Designs
Each Art-Brooch is unique, being hand made only by myself, to my own designs. Many of my brooch designs are totally individual and "one of a kind", while some may use the same shapes but in different colourways and with different surface treatments or embellishments. I can assure you that no two brooches will be exactly alike.

Commissions
I am happy to undertake commissions to design a brooch to your own requirements - please contact me to discuss.

Materials
My Art-Brooches are made from polymer clay, which is a man-made modelling material that is cured (hardened) by heating at a relatively low temperature. It is ideal for creating brooch designs, as it is relatively light and also retains a slight flexibility, which makes it resistant to breaking if dropped unlike traditionally fired ceramic clays.

Other materials may also be combined with the polymer clay, to create certain effects or surface treatments, such as metal leaf, mica powders, alcohol inks, acrylic paint, acrylic glazes and epoxy resin. Sometimes beads, crystals, charms, found objects and other embellishments may also be incorporated into the designs.

The fixing pin is set into the back of the brooch and, if being made to order, can be of the locking or non-locking type.

When not being worn, the Art-Brooch pins onto a canvas, so it can be hung on the wall. I use acrylic paints to paint the canvases, to compliment the brooch design. The canvas measures approximately 150cm x 150cm x 18cm (6" x 6" x 3/4"). I also sell some Art-Brooches un-mounted, for those who only want a brooch and not the accompanying canvas.

Hanging
The canvas can easily be hung flush on the wall by resting the underside of the top of the wooden frame supporting the canvas on two small picture pins, spaced apart at the same level. Or, more traditionally on a picture hook, by fixing two screw eyes into the inner sides if the frame supporting the canvas and stringing with picture cord or wire.

Aftercare
Wipe brooch with a soft cloth occasionally. If necessary, wipe with a damp cloth but dry afterwards. Do not immerse in water or use abrasive cleaners. Remember to remove brooch from clothing before washing.
